Personal Emergency Response System Defined

A program to protect elderly or ill individuals who are at home alone. The person wears a small device (usually on a chain around the neck) that has a button on it to press in times of emergency (such as falling down, immobilizing pain, heart attack, etc.). This will alert a remote operator, who will check on the individual, contact a neighbor or family member, and contact emergency services if required.
