  • Can Optic Cables Predict Education Shifts?: When I read articles like this one by Om Mailk, it reminds me of the speed at which certain barriers to access around the world are falling. While companies are rapidly building undersea cables and greatly expanding fiber optic capacity, software developers are quickly creating useful applications to take advantage of these new "digital roads". Comparing this dynamic to the slow pace of change in education, leads me to believe that for most of humanity, especially the majority at the bottom of the pyramid, the future of education lies in leveraging the Internet. In essence, these investments in expanding fiber optic capacity are creating the conditions for disruption in the education sector around the globe.
